Managing your projects and clients in 1Time tracking software is essential for maintaining an organised workflow. However, there are specific protocols you need to follow when it comes to deleting or deactivating projects or clients. Here, we address two frequently asked questions:

  1. How do I delete a Project/Client?
  2. I am trying to mark a Client inactive, but the button is grayed out. How can I do this?

How to Delete a Project or Client

Deleting Projects or Clients

In 1Time, you cannot delete a client or project once time has been logged against it, as this would interfere with timesheet data. Instead, you can mark a project or a client as “Inactive” once it is no longer in use. Once a project or client is inactive, employees will no longer have the option to log time under that client or project.

Deactivating a Project

To deactivate a project, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Your Client List: Navigate to the client list where the project is assigned.
  2. Select the Client: Double-click the client associated with the project you want to deactivate. This action takes you to the Client Details page.
  3. Find the Project: On the Client Details page, locate the project you wish to deactivate.
  4. Change the Project Status: In the “Status” column, click the gear icon next to “Active”. A confirmation message will appear asking, “Are you sure you want to change the status of this Project?”.
  5. Confirm Deactivation: Select “Yes” to confirm. The project will now be inactive.

Deactivating a Client

Before deactivating a client, you must first deactivate all projects assigned to that client. Here’s how:

  1. Deactivate All Projects: Follow the steps above to deactivate each project under the client.
  2. Select the Client: Highlight the client in your client list.
  3. Change Client Status: Click the “Change Status” button at the top of the page. This action will change the status of the client to “Inactive”, preventing employees from logging time under that client.

Troubleshooting: Inactive Button is Grayed Out

If the button to mark a client as inactive is grayed out, it indicates that there are still active projects under that client. To resolve this:

  1. Deactivate Active Projects: Ensure all projects under the client are deactivated as outlined above.
  2. Try Again: Once all projects are inactive, the option to mark the client as inactive should be available.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage and organise your clients and projects in 1Time tracking software, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow.
