What is Horizon 2020?

Horizon 2020 began in 2014 with the lofty ideals of being the ‘biggest research and innovation programme ever’. Over the past 7 years up to €80 billion of funding has been made available to various projects. The main aim of Horizon 2020 is to bring the innovations from the lab to the market. Some of the other benefits of the Horizon 2020 project will be growth of the job market and the increase of collaboration across research bodies and companies.  Organisation of the project is in 3 main areas, science, industry and society. Industry will cover ICT, transport and climate change while society will offer solution for societal problems such as obesity and aging populations.

Countries throughout the EU are receiving funding for projects after applying. In Germany the Horizon 2020 project is funding smart homes tailored to seniors and the disabled. This smart home of the not too distant future will be hands free and voice controlled. This will go a long way towards improving the lives of the elderly and for people with disabilities. In keeping with the internet of things automating homes is becoming easier and cheaper. This enables people to remote control their in-home environment such as the heating, air conditioning and lighting. Another fascinating adaption of this technology is the wireless acoustic sensor networks for voice detection anywhere in the house. This means that the user will not have to wear a listening device to be heard. One of the major problems that this will overcome is the changing demographics of Europe.

Developing and innovating systems such as a smart house can be a lengthy project. Staying on target is essential to meeting targets and goals both short term and long term. 1Time’s project planning and profitably solutions can keep your company on its projected timeline with ease.

Working with nanomaterials scientists have developed a way to be more energy efficient, faster and possibly not need a battery. Research partners in France have received funding to make smart phones even smarter. Just when we thought that smart phones couldn’t get any smarter, a team of scientists working with the Université de Picardie Jules Verne in France proves us wrong. As well as the French research team scientists and researchers in Slovenia, Ukraine, Morocco and Russia were involved in this project. Collaboration was the key skill in use for the research project.

Smart phones are now a part of doing business. With 1Time’s any location, any device platform you can take you time and project management to the next level. Try our 30-day free trial to see how 1Time can optimize effective time use in your company. https://1timetracking.com/pricing/
